Iliona van het Carelshof

The Mare Where Two Dynasties Met

A grey Belgian Warmblood mare whose pedigree carried Almé through Attack Z — and whose mating with Darco produced two horses recorded at 1.60 m.

The Mare Standing Between Two Hall of Fame Branches

History often remembers the stallions. In this bloodline, one mare is the point at which two extraordinary jumping families were brought together.

Iliona van het Carelshof was a grey BWP mare foaled in 1985. Her sire was Attack Z, the Olympic Almé son; her dam was Eleomore, by Donnersberg.

Her importance to this Hall of Fame is direct. When Iliona was bred to Darco, the mating joined the Almé–Attack Z branch to the Lugano van la Roche–Darco branch. One result was Parco.

Pedigree note: Iliona is Parco's dam. Attack Z is therefore Parco's damsire, while Darco is Parco's sire.

Attack Z Above a Westphalian Mare Family

Iliona's sire Attack Z was by Almé out of Undine Z. That places the Ibrahim–Almé influence immediately behind Iliona.

On the dam side, Iliona was out of Eleomore, a grey Westphalian mare by Donnersberg out of Fara by Frühling. Published pedigree records identify this as Westphalian mare family 429.

Attack Z

Almé son and international 1.60 m showjumper; the sire of Iliona.

Eleomore

Iliona's Westphalian dam, by Donnersberg out of Fara.

Almé

The French foundation influence carried into Iliona through Attack Z.

Fara

The mare behind the recorded Westphalian family from which Iliona descended.

Where Two Great Jumping Rivers Met

On one side stood Iliona: Ibrahim → Almé → Attack Z → Iliona. On the other stood Darco: Lugano van la Roche → Darco.

The mating was repeated, and the recorded results make Iliona far more than simply “the dam of Parco”. HorseTelex records both Parco, foaled in 1992, and his full brother Qui Voila D'01, foaled in 1993, as 1.60 m showjumpers by Darco out of Iliona.

That matters. Two full siblings reaching the recorded 1.60 m level gives us concrete evidence of the quality produced when these two branches were brought together.

A Small Recorded Produce List With Serious Weight

HorseTelex's mare-line record lists three offspring for Iliona: Maestro van de Heffinck by Nativio xx, Parco by Darco and Qui Voila D'01 by Darco.

The database does not provide a competition record for Iliona herself. We therefore make no claim here that she had a sport career. Her documented importance is as a broodmare — and the performance of her offspring is strong enough to tell that story without embellishment.

Hall of Fame standard: where the historical record is incomplete, we say so. Iliona's page celebrates what the available pedigree and sport records actually document.

The Son Who Carried Her Name Into International Sport

Parco became the most famous expression of Iliona's breeding legacy. Records identify him as a grey BWP stallion by Darco out of Iliona van het Carelshof, with Attack Z as damsire.

Parco competed at 1.60 m, became a BWP Ambassador and then carried the family forward as a breeding stallion. Through Parco, Iliona's place in our own pedigree becomes direct rather than historical background.

From Iliona to Noah

Parco sired Branco van Overis. Branco then sired our AES licensed stallion Noah.

That means Iliona is not included here simply because she produced a famous international stallion. She occupies a precise place in the documented route leading into the Warmblood Horse Sales breeding programme.

The Mare Whose Influence Outlived Her Photograph

“The great stallions give this pedigree its famous names. Iliona is the mare who joined two of those names together — and made the next generation possible.”

We have not found a photograph that can be reliably identified as Iliona van het Carelshof. Rather than place an uncertain image above her name, this page uses Belgian Warmblood imagery and lets the documented pedigree speak for her.

Her sire was Attack Z. Her dam was Eleomore. Bred to Darco, she produced two offspring recorded at 1.60 m. One of them was Parco. Parco sired Branco van Overis. Branco sired Noah.

For this Hall of Fame, that is more than enough reason to remember her name.

Historical details on this page are based on published pedigree and sport records, including HorseTelex, Anglo European Studbook and Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain records. No verified photograph of Iliona has been identified, so the hero deliberately uses the Belgian Warmblood image supplied for this page.
