Bon Ami
Blood, athletic sharpness, toughness and proven international performance.
Warmblood Horse Sales · Hall of Fame
The Bon Ami daughter who produced Bellami and the twin sisters Dana and Davina van het Gonnehof—and whose quiet maternal influence still lives in our breeding programme.
Archive standard: no photograph has been securely identified as Goedele 056007000G24117, so her registration and documented family—not an image of another horse—form the centre of this page.
01 · Exact Identity
Goedele van de Kruishoeve was the 1990 sBs mare registered as 056007000G24117. She stands between Bon Ami and Davina van het Gonnehof in the direct maternal family.

The registration carried through modern AES descendant pedigrees
This is the generation previously missing from the shortened family graphic. Bon Ami did not sire Davina directly. He sired Goedele; Goedele then produced Davina by Olympic Ramiro.
Putting the mare back into the chain turns a familiar collection of names into the correct pedigree: Bon Ami → Goedele → Davina.
02 · Pedigree
Goedele joined Bon Ami's international performance blood with a Belgian mare family carrying Suzerein and Flügel van la Roche.

Duplicate-record warning: one public database created two Goedele entries by attaching one to Urvana. The verified dam is Arvana v.d. Eksterhoeve. Arvana and Urvana were separate full sisters, not two spellings for the same mare.
03 · The Breeding Decision
A pedigree database can record the mating. The breeder's memory explains the judgement behind it.
Davina's breeder, Wilfried Nijsen, told Warmblood Horse Sales that his family bought Goedele as a breeding mare because of the combination of Bon Ami and Flügel van la Roche in her pedigree.
He remembered Bon Ami as bringing blood, athletic quality and toughness. The Flügel influence was valued for bone, a strong work ethic and a dependable attitude. His father knew the stallion as a horse that worked in the field during the week and went to local shows at the weekend without disappointing in attitude or results.
That history explains why Goedele mattered before any famous descendant appeared: she had been selected to unite performance blood with practical strength, reliability and the character to work.

Bone, work ethic, dependable attitude and a family reputation built through practical use.
04 · Recorded Produce
The public maternal record reviewed for this page identifies three registered daughters from Goedele, all by Olympic Ramiro.

Twin sister to DavinaGrey BWP mare foaled on 26 May 2003 by Olympic Ramiro.
Recorded to 1.30 m showjumping05 · The Twin Fillies
The identical BWP birth date records the twins. Wilfried's first-hand memory preserves the care that brought their early story to life.
More than twenty years after the twin fillies were born, Wilfried immediately remembered them and recalled bottle-feeding both by hand. This page records that positive historical fact while keeping the original private correspondence in the Warmblood Horse Sales archive.
It would be easy to reduce Goedele to one box in a pedigree. The twin story shows the real life behind that box: a mare produced two fillies in one foaling, and their breeder supplied the exceptional hands-on care they required.
Davina later became a 1.30 m sport mare and the foundation of the living family at Warmblood Horse Sales. Dana remains an inseparable part of that beginning.
06 · Her Final Foaling
This part of her history is preserved by the breeder who knew the mare, not added later by an anonymous database.
Wilfried Nijsen told Brian that Goedele died while giving birth in 2005. He described her as carrying a male foal by Elanville, the 1986 grey KWPN stallion by Renville.
No surviving registration or confirmed name for that 2005 foal has been located. This Hall of Fame therefore records the breeder's account of Goedele's death, but does not invent the foal's identity, survival or later history.
Goedele was only fifteen. Her life ended in the same role through which her influence had been carried forward: motherhood. The tragedy is part of her history, but it does not define her entire contribution.
By then she had already produced Bellami, Dana and Davina. Through Davina, the family would travel far beyond what anyone at that 2005 foaling could have known.
07 · The Living Connection
Goedele's place in this Hall of Fame is direct. She produced Davina; Davina then produced two daughters by our AES licensed stallion Noah.
Completing Goedele's family revealed an accidental echo in the names. Bellami van het Gonnehof, foaled in 2001, was the full older sister of Dana and Davina. That makes Bellami the great-aunt of Bella Ragazza.
Twenty-five years later, the sound of Bella returned in the same mare family without anyone deliberately following a naming tradition. Bellami and Bella Ragazza are not the same name, but the family connection makes the resemblance a lovely piece of history discovered only after the pedigree was put back in its correct order.
08 · Why Goedele Belongs Here
“A truthful Hall of Fame must remember the mare who carried the family, not only the stallions whose names became famous.”
Goedele is not presented as a sporting star. No public result, rider, height, colour, award or verified photograph has been attributed to her without evidence. Her place rests on something different and equally important: a documented maternal contribution.
She carried Bon Ami and the Flügel van la Roche mare line. She produced Bellami at 1.40 m and Davina at 1.30 m. She gave birth to the twin sisters Dana and Davina, whose extraordinary beginning is remembered by their breeder. Her final foaling then ended her life in 2005.
Most importantly for Warmblood Horse Sales, Goedele's family is still living. It reaches Elizabeth Diamond, Maggie May and Bella Ragazza. She does not need an invented crown: the family itself is her legacy.
Continue the Bloodline Story
Identity and pedigree were cross-checked against sBs records, the official BWP Olympic Ramiro descendant record, AES descendant pedigrees and established European sport-horse databases. The recorded produce and performance levels are supported by the maternal-family record and official BWP dates. Wilfried Nijsen's first-hand account supplies the breeding philosophy, bottle-feeding history and the 2005 fatal foaling; the original private correspondence is retained by Warmblood Horse Sales and is not reproduced on this page. No unverified photograph, competition record or honour has been assigned to Goedele.
